Chapter 5: The Reveal
[Oh my god, this guy’s got stamina for days!]
[They’ve been at it since last night. Is that even legal?]
[My girl’s getting dragged back by the ankle—Grant’s a menace and I’m here for it!]
But I was done—too exhausted to care when the Whitmore family stormed in, deputies in tow. Magnolia House, doors busted open by the sheriff’s men, was chaos.
Zoey Whitmore and the governor’s son arrived, looking like they owned the place. The plan was clear: destroy the real daughter’s reputation, make sure the fake got the crown.
Upstairs, Grant and I slept on, oblivious. Downstairs, the house mother stammered about the “virgin girl” running off, but the truth spilled out—she’d never checked Grant’s room, and it’d been plenty noisy all night.
The governor’s son’s men stormed up, but Deputy Old Lee got there first, boots muddy on the carpet. He yanked back the curtains—only to get kicked across the room by Grant, who emerged, shirt half-buttoned, eyes cold as ice.
The deputies froze, seeing their own captain. Grant tucked me in, then faced the crowd. "What, Brody? Come to the brothel to watch me?"
[Hahaha! Grant’s got jokes now!]
[The plan backfired—now the whole town’s gonna be talking!]
Grant’s stare dared anyone to say a word. Nobody did.
