Chapter 3: Dragged Online and Called to Account

[Wetin dey worry Timi? How e take allow demon waka pass am?]

Na so online space just catch fire. Comments dey everywhere. Person no fit off data for two minutes, next alert na fresh insult.

[Our precious influencer even get scratch for hand. No be neglect of duty be that?]

Everybody dey talk say Amaka, the TikTok queen wey dey teach dance, now her hand get small scratch—fans dey talk say e be like bullet wound. If you hear as dem dey shout, you go think say demon bite president pikin.

[My heart dey pain me. We need explanation o!]

Na so so lamentation. Some dey cry online, some dey type long thread, dey tag Ability Union.

[If Timi no fit do the work, abeg make another person guard us!]

You go think say na vote of no confidence. People dey suggest new names, dey yarn anyhow.

Once I switch on my phone, comments rush me like flood.

If to say na small pikin, I for off phone troway. But I just watch, dey see as things dey unfold like film.

Last night, one hundred thousand demons attack.

The kain fight wey happen, even my bone still dey pain me. For middle of night, darkness thick like ogbono soup, ground dey shake as demons dey waka.

Na only me fight them, kill all, but inside confusion, one small demon escape.

I try my best—body sweat, blood everywhere. The small demon wey escape na like fly inside market—hard to catch. I fight reach when my power wan finish.

That demon enter Amaka house. Thank God, defense team react sharp, so nothing worse happen.

God really try. If not for defense team, maybe Amaka for don become example. Dem sharp, carry her commot, patch her up.

I think say matter don end, but before I know, Amaka post everything online.

Na that moment I know wahala never finish. As she dey record herself, dey explain, I just know say tomorrow go get k-leg.

Na so my phone begin ring.

As I dey look phone, calls dey drop like rain. My name just dey trend. Even people wey I no sabi dey call me.

Na Musa, captain of defense team, dey call.

When I see Musa name, I just shake head. The guy no dey call except matter don red.

Musa na SS-level ability user.

No be today Musa start to dey fight. E sabi tactics, sabi talk. People respect am, but e get sharp mouth.

Me, I dey handle border, dey fight outside wahala.

Everybody sabi where e suppose dey. Me na outside, Musa and e boys na inside. Dem no dey cross line anyhow.

The defense team dey protect city inside, dey secure home.

If demon cross Musa and him boys, city go shake. Dem no dey slack.

"Timi, come back sharp-sharp for investigation."

As I see Musa message, I no surprise. The guy no dey waste time; e dey talk straight.

As call connect, Musa voice full of vex.

E no even greet, just pour vex as if na me kill e goat.

I frown, suspect say wahala dey, but I decide to go explain how last night be with my own mouth.

My mind dey run calculation. But I know say if I no go, dem go twist matter reach my village.

Most importantly, based on all the battles I don fight, I dey sure say the one hundred thousand demons last night just be small part—like vanguard.

I get sense—if one hundred thousand demons fit attack at once, bigger wahala dey come. Na only person wey dey see front know say when chicken begin run, fox don near.

Within twenty-four hours, big invasion fit land.

The matter no end here. My spirit just dey restless. I know say I need talk true before e too late.
