Blood, Betrayal, and the Black Suitcase

At the bar, Eli looked at me mockingly.

Wait… Am I a brother?

I nervously touched my chest. Good, still there.

I smiled and shot back at Eli:

“My dad’s straight. All six of us are real siblings.”

Hinting, of course, that Eli was adopted, and Mr. Navarro still wants a son.

Eli’s eyes curved with a smile. He really is good-looking.

“I was adopted by my dad from the foster system.

“When I was in the group home, my best friend was your big brother, Noble.”

I was stunned.

He actually knows my big brother isn’t a biological Grant?

This is top secret—second, third, fourth, and fifth brothers don’t even know!

“Do you know how deeply your big brother impressed me, Tessa?”

Eli looked at me, lost in memory.

“When we were kids in the group home, your big brother could lift heavy things. On spring outings, he’d uproot oak saplings by the creek.

“And at the time, he was only five.”

Sorry.

Such an over-the-top setting in a group-pampered novel is just to highlight Noble’s superhuman strength.

After all, as the male lead, he needs to have the power of Iron Man.

I wiped my tears and said to Eli:

“Can you forgive him? Noble had it rough growing up. My dad was busy with business, and he took care of all the younger siblings. Looking back, it was like John Wayne raising five Scarlett O’Haras.”

Eli reached out to wipe my tears.

“It’s not him who needs forgiveness—it’s you.”

Eli’s eyes seemed to see right through me. He said coldly:

“You ridiculous author. Five male leads in a group-pampered novel—how much do you favor Noble, giving him all those skills?”

Me: Huh?

I’ve been exposed?

If God created people, then when I created Noble in this novel, I modeled him after Captain America.

Eli: “I get wanting bravery, but do female authors never consider the scientific plausibility of arm strength when creating characters?”

Me: “If science worked, why would I be in the novel?”

Eli glared at me, speechless.

I glared back, refusing to back down.

“What, you think you’re better? Didn’t you also read the group-pampered novel I wrote for women?”

Eli is an unlucky reader who caught the bug.

The novel he followed was a male-targeted one: ‘Bro, I Have Five Battle Dragon Overlords.’ The one I wrote was for women: ‘Me and My Five Dragon Overlord Brothers.’ He accidentally clicked the wrong one and got transmigrated into the book.

I apologized sincerely:

“Sorry, but I remember I put a big (5v1, np) after the title.”
