The next morning, while she was busy putting on makeup, I quietly took her iPad out of her tote bag.

She didn’t notice; she just grabbed her purse and left like always.

Her iMessage was still logged in on the iPad.

I scrolled through her contacts, checking every guy’s chat. Everything looked normal—nothing out of place.

Until after one in the afternoon, when a new message came in.

"Emily, have you had lunch? Come to my office for a bit."

"Professor Carter, right now?"

"Yes, now."

So far, nothing seemed strange.

But the next few messages made my blood run cold.

"Didn’t I just go to your office yesterday at noon?"

"You always look incredible when you come by my office. How am I supposed to concentrate? Don’t worry, I’ve checked—these days are your safe period."

"Okay~ I’m coming~"

I couldn’t believe my eyes.

My girlfriend, with her advisor?

A guy thirty years older than her? That asshole.

My grip tightened around the iPad, knuckles turning white. I felt sick and dizzy, the room spinning as I tried to process what I was reading. All those late nights at the studio, all those times she said she was busy or needed to stay late with her advisor—suddenly, it was like watching scenes from a bad movie. I wanted to throw the iPad across the room, but instead I just kept scrolling, my heart pounding so hard it hurt.
