When I awakened the succubus inside me, my boyfriend, Derek, dumped me on the spot.

I crouched on the curb and cried—not because of the breakup, but because... I just felt absolutely awful. My body was humming with a need I couldn’t name, a hunger that made heartbreak seem almost easy.

The hard edge of the concrete dug into my thighs, the night air chilling my skin through my jeans. I scrubbed my face with my sleeve, grit from the curb scraping my hand, neon city lights flickering in puddles at my feet. Cars rumbled by, people laughed somewhere in the distance—life kept moving, but my chest felt hollow, caving in from something deeper and stranger than just a broken heart.

Derek, impatient as ever, dragged his roommate over. "Dude, can you handle her? I’ve got plans."

Caleb just said, "Yeah," and nodded, his face unreadable.

He walked over and asked, "Lila, what can I do to get you to stop crying?"

I carefully tugged my skirt down, worried he’d notice my bunny tail. My palms were slick with sweat. If anyone saw, I’d be viral on TikTok by midnight.

But oh no, my ears were about to pop out, too.

All I could do was bite my lip and beg. My cheeks burned, and my mouth felt cotton-dry. I couldn’t believe what I was about to say. "I want a kiss."

Caleb raised an eyebrow. "What kind of kiss do you want?"
