Chapter 13: One Last Question, One Big Answer
I took a step back.
Looking at Caleb, I felt a bit regretful.
He really looked delicious.
But a forced melon isn’t sweet.
I really couldn’t wait any longer.
No time to wait.
I could only try to find someone else.
I remembered Derek had a friend who was a sophomore.
Every time he saw me, his eyes would light up.
He definitely wouldn’t mind if I kissed and hugged him first.
Plus, he was very athletic.
He’d probably be good at going all the way.
I made up my mind and decided to act right away.
"Then I’ll go find someone else. Sorry about yesterday and today."
I bowed to Caleb and turned to leave.
But he was faster, grabbing my wrist.
"Lila."
He looked down at me, his lips pressed tight.
Why was he suddenly angry?
I looked at him in surprise. "Caleb, do you need something?"
"Who are you going to find?"
"Or, if Derek had pulled over another guy yesterday, would you have let him kiss you for pleasure too?"
I shook my head immediately. "Of course not."
Caleb’s face eased a bit.
"At least he’d have to be tall and handsome. I’m really superficial."
"Lila."
Caleb got angry again, his face frighteningly cold.
I shrank back in fear.
Just then, my tail popped out uncontrollably.
All my internal alarms went off.
Today’s dress was tight, nothing to hide it.
I was so anxious I was about to cry.
I couldn’t think, so I threw myself into Caleb’s arms again.
"Caleb, I don’t have time."
"Just one question."
I bit my lip and looked up at him with pleading eyes.
"Will you... go all the way with me?"
My veins felt like they were about to burst.
Please.
Don’t reject me again.
Honestly, I didn’t really want to find another guy.
Caleb slowly raised his hand.
His long fingers cupped my burning cheeks.
His handsome face, in the night, looked like cold marble.
But the emotions swirling in his eyes were incredibly serious.
"I’ll only do these things with my future wife."
"Then let me be your wife, okay?"
I blurted it out without thinking.
Caleb looked at me for a long moment.
Then, suddenly, a small smile appeared at the corner of his lips. "Okay."
His answer settled into me like the thud of a basketball against a gym floor—sudden, real, and echoing in the pit of my stomach.
