Chapter 4: Pamphlets, Regrets, and a New Temptation

I cried as I looked at Derek.

He was tall and strong.

Both Mom and I had been satisfied with him.

Just yesterday, Mom even gave me a few pamphlets, telling me to study them and enjoy myself. She’d slipped them into my backpack between my Psych textbook and a bag of Sour Patch Kids.

I’d read them very seriously, poring over them half the night.

And then I’d be carted off by some government lab for research.

Derek just sneered. "Come on, Lila, do you love me that much?"

Actually, my love was pretty shallow.

It was all about looks and body.

Time ticked by, second by second.

My body temperature was sky-high, my mind going fuzzy.

"Derek, I’m begging you."

"Impossible."

Derek was even more annoyed now.

Just then, he spotted a familiar figure.

An idea flashed through his mind.

"Caleb!"

Derek strode over and dragged him over.
