Chapter 8: Awkward, Electric, and a Little Dangerous

Caleb didn’t seem very good at kissing.

He accidentally bit me a few times.

I softly teased, "Seriously, is this your first kiss or what?"

"Never mind, open your mouth..."

"Lila."

Caleb’s hot palm suddenly gripped the back of my neck.

His breath was ragged, panting lightly by my ear.

"Again."

This time, he kissed me hard and deep.

Like he wanted to devour me, my tongue going numb in his mouth.

I lost all strength, going limp in his arms, barely able to stand.

Until his big hand pressed against the tail behind me.

"Lila?"

Caleb’s eyes, dark with desire, flashed with surprise.

I almost screamed.

For once, my brain worked fast: "It’s a little toy, don’t touch it, okay?" I forced a giggle, praying he’d just roll with it.

Caleb’s hand pressed down even harder.

I could feel his sudden displeasure.

"Lila."

"You sure know how to play."

He bit my lips lightly. "Turns out you’re not so obedient after all."

His grip on my hip tightened as if to test me, his eyes boring into mine with a heat that sent a shiver all the way down my spine. I forced a giggle, trying not to let the terror show on my face, desperate for him not to realize anything was off.
