My mind scatter. I quickly call Seyi.

My hand dey shake as I press him number. This one pass ordinary confusion.

"Wetin happen?"

His voice cold like ice block.

Seyi voice no carry emotion. E shock me, because na Seyi wey I know dey always laugh, even if na fake smile.

I bite my lip, feeling lost. "Where you dey?"

I dey expect say he go talk say he dey house or dey road, but him answer short.

"Office."

"Workshop."

As Seyi talk am, my heart skip. Office and workshop at the same time? Which kind big man dey use both mouth like this?

He pause—

Then Seyi talk, voice cold: "You wan remind me of my old life again, abi?"

The way he talk am, e pain me. As if I dey rub his past for face. Na wah o.

"Which old life?" I confused. "No be workshop you dey work? And last night, we dey your small house, but today—"

"Beep..."

Before I finish, the call cut.

Seyi hang up on me.

This man no get respect.

I curse small under my breath.

As I wan call am back, I notice the date on my phone.

My eye open like torchlight. I see the date, rub my eye again.

2030…

Five years don waka?

How e take happen? Wetin I miss? My head dey ring like generator.

I look my belly, stiff. Finally, I understand—I don jump five years into the future.

And I dey pregnant.

There was one old photo by the bed.

I reach take am. The picture bring back memory—good days. My skin fine like fresh apple, Seyi face rugged but sharp. Love dey inside the picture.

Me, fine and shining, and Seyi in singlet, looking rugged but handsome.

I calm myself, call am again.

My hand still dey shake, but I gats hear from am.

"Seyi, we marry, abi?"

I gats confirm am, because all these new things dey confuse me.

"How many years we don marry?"

I wan know wetin don happen—maybe e go help me arrange my mind.

"How my papa take gree make I marry you?"

I just dey find out wetin happen these five years.

But—

Seyi get am wrong.

He laugh small, pain inside. "Tomi, you wan talk say you regret again, abi? This na the third time this month you dey talk divorce."

The way e talk am, I fit feel pain for e chest, but Seyi stubborn, no wan show.

He pause. "I don talk before, I no go sign any divorce paper."

Seyi still get pride. E dey pain am but he no gree bow.
