As I dey go downstairs, I jam one woman by mistake.

She wear light blue suit dress, her eyes bend like new moon for sky as she smile.

She smell like fresh soap and powder, as if she never dey sweat for this Lagos heat. Her face dey shine, and the calmness wey she carry be like say she dey on top her own world. I sidon look her small, dey try remember if I see am before.

“Madam Okafor, good afternoon, I be Chief Okafor’s assistant. I just come check on the young master.”

Her voice soft, she get confidence. She bow her head small, respect dey her face, but her eye dey sharp, dey observe everything. For that moment, I just feel invisible, like say I no dey important for this house.

I nod, waka pass quick.

My heart dey beat, my hand still dey shake. Na so I waka pass, no fit even look her eye. Shame just dey my body, I wan vanish.
