Chapter 10: Real Housewives of Savannah
In my previous life, there was also this meetup.
I wanted to get more matches and prize money, so I went.
By then, Jessie had left the team and didn’t come.
But unexpectedly, the sponsor knew Drew’s wife.
She showed up and caused a scene, and in a panic, Taylor dumped the blame on me.
At the time, she was wearing designer clothes and carrying a Louis Vuitton bag. Everyone thought she was rich, so to curry favor, they all sided with her.
When I got taken out by the vase, no one dared help me.
Now, seeing them say all this in the group, if I dared go, I’d be openly humiliated.
But looking at my phone, full of screenshots of Taylor and Drew flirting—
This time, I’ll let her taste what it’s like to have your head smashed by a vase.
So I immediately replied:
"I’m going."
The captain was counting heads, and when I signed up, he asked:
"Are you sure?"
He thought with all the malice from Taylor and the others, I wouldn’t dare go.
Even if I went, I’d only embarrass myself.
Taylor immediately said sarcastically:
"She’s a country bumpkin, who knows where she got the nerve to go to such a fancy place. Hope she doesn’t embarrass us in front of the sponsor."
"She just wants to curry favor with the sponsor, to get more matches. If she can suck up to one, she can suck up to ten. Maybe she’ll be like Jessie and seduce people."
"Oh, Taylor, she’s got a big backer now, why would she need to please the sponsor."
"Tsk tsk, wasn’t that woman great at showing off before? Why isn’t she talking now? Scared to come, afraid we’ll find out she’s a fake rich woman?"
Seeing the rumors spreading—
At first, I thought Jessie didn’t need to respond, or even attend.
Jess showing up would be giving them attention they didn’t deserve.
But since I was about to do something big—
I decided to invite Jess to watch the show.
So I messaged Jessie:
"Jess, the team is meeting in Savannah this weekend, are you coming? I’ll show you a good show, it’ll be satisfying."
This time, I wasn’t just a target. I had receipts—and a front row seat to their downfall.
Since Taylor and the others slandered Jessie so much—
If she gets her comeuppance, Jessie would surely enjoy watching.
I thought I wouldn’t get a reply this time either.
Who knew, that evening, Jess actually replied:
"Just got back from Europe, where’s the dinner, send me the address."
Her reply came so quickly, I did a double-take at the screen. Guess being rich really does mean you get to travel Europe and still have time for local drama. I grinned and sent her the Peachtree Hotel location with a flourish.
On the weekend, I took a Lyft to the Peachtree Hotel.
Drew and the sponsor hadn’t arrived yet, so everyone was waiting outside.
As soon as I got out of the car, the girl in front, wearing a Chanel dress and carrying an LV bag, covered her mouth and laughed:
"That must be Sam. Look at her shoes, they’re yellowed. I didn’t think she was this broke."
The girls around all flattered her:
"Taylor, if she had money, she wouldn’t have to suck up to others for cash. She’s the least dignified in the group, will do anything for money, so embarrassing."
"By the way, Sam, where’s your rich lady friend? Didn’t she drive you here?"
After Taylor said this, she shook her BMW car keys:
"Too bad, you had to betray us to curry favor with that princess. Otherwise, when I passed Savannah University, maybe I’d have picked you up."
I walked over expressionlessly, not bothering to argue.
Anyway, she’d be in trouble soon.
Let her talk. She’ll get what’s coming.
Just then, a Porsche stopped at the hotel entrance.
A man in a dark blue suit got out of the driver’s seat.
Taylor’s eyes lit up: "Drew!"
Drew parked the Porsche and walked over with a smile.
Taylor smiled: "Drew, is that your car? It’s so nice."
Drew: "Really? Just drove it today. If you like it, after dinner I’ll take you for a spin."
He gave her a suggestive look.
Taylor immediately blushed and playfully hit him:
"Okay, but I only hang out with you because we’re close, I’m not a gold-digger, I drive a BMW myself."
Drew smiled: "Of course, you’ve always been pure, totally different from some girls."
He glanced at me meaningfully as he spoke.
Taylor got the hint: "Yeah, broke and short-sighted, let’s ignore her."
"Okay, let’s go in."
"Wait, Drew, did you forget, isn’t Jessie coming too?"
Taylor said, showing a look of anticipation:
"I want to see what she’s really like. She loves to show off, but truly rich people are as low-key as you, Drew."
Drew: "Alright."
The air in front of the Peachtree Hotel was thick with fake perfume, fake smiles, and the electric tension of an upcoming showdown. Even the bellhop at the door was side-eyeing our little crowd, probably wondering if he was about to witness a Real Housewives moment in downtown Savannah.
