Chapter 7: New Dreams, Old Bugs

Pocky ask, “So, wetin you wan do now?”

E dey look me with concern. Na true friend—e no dey judge, just dey reason way forward.

Me: “I never know. Which project you dey run now?”

I no go lie, my mind blank. But I still dey curious to try new thing.

Pocky: “AI, na that one everybody dey rush.”

If you check LinkedIn, everywhere na AI. All the job post dey add 'AI' even if na regular work.

I nod, sigh.

This tech world no dey wait for anybody. I dey try catch my breath, but my brain dey run.

Pocky try cheer me: “No rush go work. Rest small.”

E dey right. Since three years, I never really rest. Na work dey drive my life like danfo for Oshodi.

As e talk am, I realize say I never rest since. I really need holiday.

The thing just clear me—sometimes person need to pause before e burn out.

Me: “I wan just jump enter next flight go Seychelles.”

I talk am like joke, but my body really need am.

Pocky: “You wan go deep-sea fishing, abi? No wahala. No need flight—just use my helicopter.”

As e talk am, I just burst laugh. This Pocky, e dey always overdo.

Me: “Oya. Send me your AI project proposals—make I dey read am for helicopter.”

I no fit just rest without work—na habit wey hard to break.

Pocky: “...”

Na only silence enter. I just dey look am.

Pocky: “All these your INTJ people dey fear person o.”

Na inside joke. Since school, dem dey talk say my brain dey wire like robot.

I no carry plenty load. As I dey wait plane, I see Pocky dey sell shares.

E dey operate phone like stock trader. As e dey tap, I dey wonder wetin e dey plan.

“Why you dey rush sell?”

E just raise brow, no talk.

Pocky eyes shine:

You go know say e get inside info. For business, e sharp pass street cat.

“I bet you, Ribo go soon get big wahala. Sell your own shares—nobody know how low e go fall.”

For my mind, I dey ask if e just dey guess or e see something wey I no see.

I vex. “You no trust the system wey I build?”

E dey laugh, but e get point. Pride dey worry me small.

Pocky: “No be that. Na because you dey do everything yourself, you no dey teach people, and you hate write documentation.”

E talk am true. For Naija, if you no groom people, company fit scatter if you leave.

“Ribo wan launch new feature. Something go spoil.”

I fit remember, after last upgrade, some bug still hide. I plan fix am, but I no write full report.

I remember: after I upgrade architecture, plenty hidden wahala still dey. I plan write summary for my people.

But na so HR begin chase me for report, then sack enter. My mind no touch finish am.

That summary still half-way.

The file still dey my Google Drive, but nobody fit see am now.

Musa only see say maintenance cost drop after upgrade—but na if everything dey okay.

Dem think say because cost drop, system don perfect. Dem no know say na person wey sabi code dey hold am.

If wahala show, na only me fit fix am.

For my mind, I dey wonder if dem fit trace bug without me. E no go easy.

I expect small problem, but I no think say disaster go come quick like that.

Na so tech dey be. Small mistake fit blow for public. If Ribo crash, e fit enter news.
