Chapter 6: The Calamity Revealed
The Five Directions Acolytes were among the weakest at Mount Providence, but excelled at sneak attacks. Unfortunately, they chose the wrong target. I killed Silver-Head Acolyte and others, leaving only Gold-Light Acolyte for the monkey.
The monkey grabbed Gold-Head Acolyte’s throat and sat his red monkey rump on the Supreme Reverend’s throne, shouting:
"Supreme Reverend has fled, you take his punishment! I was suppressed under Five Elements Mountain for five hundred years—one club a year!"
His laughter echoed, wild and unhinged. The throne creaked under his weight.
Gold-Head Acolyte’s soul fled. "Great Sage, I can’t survive even once. Curtain-Lifting General, save me!" His voice was a thin whine, desperation leaking through every word.
I remained silent and cold. My eyes met his, and I let the silence speak for me.
"Then one club every hundred years," said the monkey.
Gold-Head Acolyte collapsed; even once a century was unbearable. He crumpled, his spirit broken, the fight gone out of him.
"Can’t take a beating."
The monkey hung Gold-Head Acolyte’s head on his waist. He wore it like a trophy, the old rage burning in his eyes.
