Chapter 5: Lillian’s Last Word

“Yes, I’m here for a blind date.” I smiled slightly. “So I won’t see Miss Carter off.”

Lillian shot me a glare, her brow furrowing even tighter. But she didn’t get up. Instead, she fixed her deep gaze on Natalie.

“Miss Carter?” I lowered my tone, giving her a second cue to leave.

Sizing up my guest like this was really impolite.

“What’s the rush?”

Lillian raised an eyebrow, her stare locked on me, her eyes full of a dark, unreadable emotion.

Suddenly she curled her lips, let out a cold laugh:

“We slept together for four years, Caleb. Least I can do is make sure your next girl isn’t a total trainwreck.”
