Chapter 3: Exes in the Waiting Room

This brat—I was so angry I tried to pull my feet away.

They wouldn’t budge. Of course not.

So I kicked him. “Hey, let go.”

“Ow!” I couldn’t help but yelp.

Ben suddenly grabbed my ankle and pulled me off the sofa.

I fell straight into his arms.

His chest pressed against me, and my body went limp.

No use complaining—guess this is what I get for playing with fire.

I remembered our first kiss. I tiptoed, closed my eyes, waited forever, and only got a quick brush of lips.

Like a dragonfly skimming the water.

I laughed, looking at the tall boy blushing shyly, my heart filled with honey.

So I told him, “Ben, bend down.”

I’m 5'2", he’s 6'2"—a full foot taller. When he bent down, I still had to stand on tiptoe, wrap my arms around his neck, and kiss the boy I liked.

His lips were tightly shut. After a while, I couldn’t help but whisper, a lover’s secret: “Hey, your mouth...”

For a second, it was like time rewound.

I remembered our first kiss, and couldn’t help but wrap my arms around Ben’s neck.

The next second, pain shot through my upper lip.

Hiss. This brat—call him a dog and he really bites. Damn it.

We kissed, the taste of blood lingering. After a long while, Ben, panting, pressed his lips to my ear.

He asked through gritted teeth, “Sis, can you really be with anyone?”

As soon as he finished, I slapped him.

“Don’t say things like that again.”

He fell back onto the carpet, collar loose.

His face was stubborn and fierce, but his eyes were getting red. He got up, looking down at me.

“What, sis, am I wrong? If I hadn’t come tonight, would you have slept with that guy?”

“Enough!” I was angry too.

I had a headache. I was aiming for Marcus, but I really hadn’t planned to do anything with him tonight.

It rained suddenly. Marcus came to pick me up, got soaked. I just asked him to come up and dry off, but he obviously misunderstood. I was about to push him away when Ben showed up.

But I didn’t need to explain that to Ben.

What he said tonight really pissed me off.

“Ben, you’re just an ex-boyfriend, and now I’m your sister. That’s it. I don’t want any other relationship with you.”

I poked his shoulder. “Hey, remember your place.”

But he grabbed my hand.

“Heh. Sis?”

He leaned down, hot breath in my ear. “Is that what sisters do with their brothers?”

This brat.

I was shaking with anger.

“Get out!”

I shook off his hand, stormed to the entryway, and opened the door. “Get out of my house.”

When he didn’t move, I glared and tugged at his clothes. “Are you leaving or not?”

Ben’s face was dark. He stood there stiffly. I couldn’t move him, but after a while, he strode out.

“Fine, I’ll leave myself.”

I slammed the door shut.
