Chapter 6: Crowned by Chaos, Loved by the Sea
As I’m enjoying the gossip, Sebastian’s cool voice sounds behind me: “Is your phone that interesting?”
He leans against the doorframe, arms crossed, looking impossibly handsome in jeans and a faded blue hoodie.
“Of course.”
I flash him a grin, but he just shakes his head.
His pale blue eyes are tinged with displeasure. “You little liar—you said you missed me and liked me, but since you got home, you haven’t looked at me once.”
He pouts, and I can’t help but laugh.
As a true gossip lover, I still have to discuss the latest news with Riley. But hearing the edge in his voice, I reluctantly tear my eyes from my phone and give him a perfunctory kiss: “You’re my favorite. I’m just handling important business.”
He pulls me closer, his arms cool and strong.
His voice goes husky, suggestive: “Good. Let’s handle some business together.”
I roll my eyes, but I’m already melting. “That’s not what I meant—”
He kisses me, his cool scent enveloping me. Soon, I forget all about the gossip.
His lips taste like the ocean, and I let myself drift away. For once, there’s no drama—just us.
The next morning, my back is aching. Sebastian, with his supernatural stamina, never knows when to stop.
I groan, rolling over, but he’s already at my side with breakfast.
He sets down a tray of pancakes and scrambled eggs. His voice is gentle: “You’re awake. Eat something.”
He sits beside me, feeding me bites of pancake. I almost forget about the world outside.
No matter how many times I see his gorgeous face, I can’t resist. I want to complain about last night, but the words turn soft: “Feed me.”
He grins, tucking a stray hair behind my ear. “As you wish.”
Come to think of it, our relationship started because of his looks. Back when Marissa set me up and I was infamous, I went to the shore to clear my head and found Sebastian badly injured. Even sea gods have their own struggles. He was half-dead on the beach, but those pale blue eyes drew me in—mysterious and mesmerizing. And his beautiful tail, the scales sparkling brighter than gems in the sun. If he’d been ugly, I would’ve called the cops. But he was so handsome, when he asked me to save him, I only hesitated three seconds before taking him home to my rented beach house. And that’s how we started dating.
I remember that night—how the moonlight danced on his skin, how I wrapped him in towels and made him ramen. He was awkward, almost shy, but those eyes… I never stood a chance.
After the island show, my career took off. Brandon kept his word and gave me the lead role in ‘After the Breakup.’ Everything went smoothly for me. As for Marissa and the others, their careers tanked and they ended up in debt. They tried to make comebacks but failed and soon disappeared from the spotlight.
It’s almost poetic justice. The people who tried to bury me are now forgotten, while I’m thriving.
Years later, I stood onstage accepting the Best Actress award—with Riley presenting it. She’s thriving too, acting and directing, even winning Best New Director. She invited me to star in her next film, and I happily agreed. We’re both doing better and better. I believe our future will be bright!
The applause is thunderous, the lights blinding. Riley hugs me onstage, and for the first time, I feel like I truly belong. As the cameras flash, I catch Sebastian’s smile in the front row, and I know—no matter what storms come, I’ll always have my happy ending.
