Extra Chapter: Tyler’s New Beginning
Extra (Tyler’s Chapter)
My cat’s been looking a little down lately.
Ryan said, “It’s probably lonely, seeing us together all the time.”
I thought about it and agreed.
So I decided—let’s get it a companion!
It was the weekend, and Ryan drove me to the city’s hottest new pet store, called “Let’s Raise a Cat Together.”
As soon as I walked in, I was blown away.
So many cats!
All of them sleek and lively, clearly well cared for.
The store smelled faintly of cedar and fresh litter, and the shelves were stacked with American-brand treats and toys—felt like a boutique, not a shelter.
As I was looking around, a familiar male voice called out,
“Hi there, looking to buy a cat?”
Ryan and I turned around.
“Tyler?!”
“Hey, it’s you guys.” The handsome young man flashed a sunny smile.
“This your shop?”
“Yep.”
Suddenly, I remembered something and froze.
The shop’s called “Let’s Raise a Cat Together”...
Was he still hung up on Mallory? Did he open this place to commemorate that fake online romance?
Tyler saw my face and immediately guessed what I was thinking.
He said indignantly,
“Don’t overthink it. I opened this place to prove nobody needs her to raise a cat! Who cares about her?”
“I can do it myself—raise a hundred cats if I want!”
I just shook my head. Youth really is something.
Turning heartbreak into business—impressive.
Soon, Ryan and I picked out a gentle Ragdoll.
But Tyler refused to take our money.
After some back-and-forth, I left with the cat, feeling a little guilty.
He just gave us a cat for free. I feel bad.
Ryan, carrying a pile of cat supplies, said coolly:
“I paid.”
“Huh? When?”
“I left a card on his desk as we were leaving.”
“My girlfriend only takes gifts from me. Who does he think he is?”
Uh...
Guess he’s still holding a grudge about Tyler ruining our first date.
I quickly changed the subject:
“Let’s name the kitten!”
Ryan thought for a while.
“Susu?”
“Try again.”
“Kiki?”
“It’s a boy. That name’s too girly.”
“Zenny?”
“Ryan, why not just call him Kelsey?”
“Then what do you want to call him?”
“Hmm... how about Carter?”
“Okay.”
The End.
